Tim Watson(Chair) I have recently retired after 40 years of working in the financial markets of the City. Most of that time was spent in managing the assets of, or advising on the investments of, pension funds and charities. In my last few years I headed the Institutional Client Relations team at one the of the larger investment management houses, being “the face” of the company to its clients. In this, not only did I have to be able to explain developments in financial markets, but also to understand the needs of the client base in what they were trying to achieve and the pressures that they were under. It is, I hope, this ability to empathise and an understanding of the needs of both our members and the commercial imperatives that we have to operate within, that I bring to the SWALLOW board. |

During that time I carried out a variety of roles, among them tax inspector specializing in company tax, training new recruits from start to qualifying and running the local Inland Revenue Office in Frome. More recently I was involved in mentoring, recruiting and promotion programmes . I bring to the trustees knowledge of business and considerable management experience. In the past I have been a trustee of a Bristol based charity aimed at providing information and counseling services to young people. Outside work I am interested in travel and theatre and I am chair of my local parish council. |

Emma RawlingsI spent 5 years in the fast paced retail environment, for a national supermarket chain. Starting as Human Resources Manager and then moving into Store Management. Along with carrying out projects, and area implementation of new store initiatives, this also included new store openings. From this, I then went into lecturing at a highly reputable FE & HE College and University. Teaching across all business disciplines to a range of students, including mature students. Taking the college through the accreditation process to teach qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development CIPD. Programme managing several courses and tutor for groups of students, namely students with learning difficulties and students from a religious group. I am now HR & Training Officer for a leading National Charity, ensuring that staff, trustees and volunteers have the right skills, knowledge and understanding to deliver the strategic plan. I bring management skills, with an HR skew to SWALLOW and compliment the wealth of skills and knowledge within the trustee board. |

David VaughanOriginally from London, I have lived in Paulton for almost 40 years, where I married Kathryn and raised a family of two daughters. I have worked in IT since 17 and am currently an independent IT quality assurance and testing manager, currently working for clients in Swindon & Northampton. I much admire the objectives of SWALLOW and hope to be able to assist our management team to achieve them. Whilst I have little financial expertise, I can offer enthusiasm and good experience in planning, preparation, project and people management. I joined the board of SWALLOW in February 2007. |
Chris WinpennyI joined the SWALLOW board as Treasurer in 1998. Most of my career was spent working in the Bristol area as Financial Controller and Finance Director in a number of companies in the building material and building services sectors. In 1998 I started my own business in Bath selling fireplaces and central heating systems. I sold the business in 2007 when I retired. When I joined the SWALLOW board my main role was that of Treasurer as the charity had very little financial or accounting resources to call on. Over the years this situation has improved and developed considerably so while I still take responsibility for finance and accounting matters on the Trustee Board I hope that I bring a wide business experience to our discussions as well as the background knowledge of SWALLOW as the longest serving Trustee. Outside SWALLOW, I have been married to Anne for 40 years and our two children and four grandchildren keep us very busy. |

Keziah RutherfordAfter completing my degree in Edinburgh, I spent two years working the events industry before taking my first role in the charity sector in 2008. Since then I have worked for a national charity as part of the Strategy and Development team. I bring to SWALLOW my skills in fundraising, a good understanding of the inner workings of charities and an up-to-date knowledge of the third sector. I became aware of SWALLOW and its work through local networks and was very impressed by the charity’s achievements to date, plans for the future and user-led ethos. I was delighted to join the board of Trustees in September 2011 and am excited to be able to help support the charity on the next part of its journey. I have been married for 10 years and am currently expecting our first child. |
