In SWALLOW's 30th year, we are also celebrating the special 25th Anniversary of our CEO Bev Craney. At our Evaluation Day last week, Bev gave a heartfelt speech and received some flowers and gifts in recognition of all of her hard work, commitment and inspiration over the years. We also wanted to catch up with her here on our blog as she reflects on her journey at SWALLOW.
"In March 2023 I have been working at SWALLOW for 25 years. The years have flown by remarkably quickly and two days have never been the same!
I first started as a support worker back in 1997 after moving from Birmingham to Somerset. I recognised the benefits of a user-led approach in social care and I was so excited to be involved with the Charity's work and ethos.
At the time there was just a handful of staff working at Redfield Road and Base House. Gradually, I was supported and encouraged by my family to take on more responsibilities to help out the Charity.
In 2004 Nicky joined our team and with her fundraising and financial skills, drive and enthusiasm, along with the expertise, dedication and commitment of Michelle and Jill who joined shortly after, we have proved to be a dynamic Senior Management Team and together we have driven the Charity forward to make it what it is today.
I am delighted that we are now supporting over 150 people across Bath and North East Somerset with a wide range of services and SWALLOW’s commitment to keep our members needs and wishes at the heart of our work remains as strong as ever!"
